HOLYOKE-Joseph Anthony “Joe Bass” Lacaprucia, 68, of Meadow Street in Holyoke passed away on Sunday at Holyoke Medical Center after a brief illness. Joseph was born in Waltham, Mass. on August 8, 1948 the son of Anita (Onisto) Lacaprucia and the late Joseph Lacaprucia. Joe was raised and educated in Chicopee, attending local schools and graduating from Chicopee Comprehensive High School. He enlisted in the US Navy, serving aboard the USS Atakapa as a Gunners Mate. He honorably served his country from 1965 to 1969 when he was honorably discharged and returned home. Joe worked as a Wastewater engineer for Bondi’s Island for many years before his retirement. A gifted musician, Joe played the Acoustic Guitar and Harmonica. He was a familiar sight in Northampton as a Street Performer and also played throughout the Valley at many venues. Joe was a good man and loved by his family, especially his children. Besides his mother, Anita Lacaprucia he leaves his children; Joseph “Joey” Lacaprucia of Springfield and Honey Ann Bienvenue-Bliss of turners Falls. Two grandchildren; T.J. Hollis and Louis Manuel Maldonado. He also leaves his siblings; Tom and his wife Joyce of Chicopee, Louis and his wife Cynthia of Connecticut, James and his wife Elizabeth of Florence and William of Chicopee, Jo Ann Prema Thomas of New Mexico, Lorena Vyce and Anita Seidnitzer of Chicopee as well as many nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. The family invites you to join them for a Committal Service followed by Military Honors on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. (Please gather by 1:45 p.m.) at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, Mass. The Tylunas Funeral Home of Chicopee has been entrusted with arrangements.
