Aime E. Legere 1926 - 2009 CHICOPEE - Aime E. Legere, 83 died December 25, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke on April 18, 1926 to the late Albert J. and Dolores (Leduc) Legere. Aime attended schools in Holyoke and was a longtime parishioner of St. Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. Mr. Legere served our country in the United States Navy where he earned the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal. Aime worked as a truck driver for M & M Transportation and retired from Finest in 1982. Aime lived life to the fullest and traveled to many places some people would only dream of visiting. He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 69. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 337, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 625, the Tigers Athletic Club, the Retired Teamsters Local 404, the Blind Veterans of America and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Legere was also an Auxillary Police Officer in the City of Chicopee since 1969. Aime was predeceased by his loving wife, Germaine T. (Messier) on June 25, 2002 after fifty - four years of marriage. He will be sadly missed by his two sons, Robert G. Legere and his wife Jeanne of Pembroke, Bermuda and Donald A. Legere of Chicopee; his two daughters, Marie G. Kenning of Roanoke, VA and Denise L. Cavanaugh of Chicopee; his two sisters, Josephine Michalak of Belchertown and Diana Jeffries of Bremen, AL; his six grandchildren and his three great-grandchildren. Mr. Legere was also predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Adams and Doris Farley. A funeral procession will form at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30 at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St, Chicopee. There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Burial will follow the Liturgy in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee. Calling hours will be Tuesday, December 29 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
