Albert L. Phenner, Jr. 1925 - 2004 LUDLOW - Albert L. "Al" Phenner, Jr., 78, formerly of 182 Erin Lane, died Friday in Bay State Medical Center, Springfield. Born & educated in Springfield, Al was a retired 25-year employee of Sears & Roebuck Co., and had later worked for Manny's T.V. and Appliance Store in Wilbraham for 15 years. Al was a highly decorated Army Veteran of WWII, having participated in the Rome-Arno Campaign, and the Naples Foggia Campaign in Europe. He was an expert Rifleman who received many medals including the Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars. Al was a member of the American Legion #275 of Chicopee, the Disabled Veteran's of America, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and enjoyed playing golf and cards. Al leaves 3 daughters, Gretchen Giuffre and her husband Gene of Wakefield, MA., Ellen Dominique and her husband Gary of Ludlow, and Lee Phenner and her partner Mary Taylor of Arlington, MA. Al leaves 6 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jaime, and Melissa Dominique, and Andrea, Adam, and Matthew Giuffre. Al leaves 3 brothers-in law, Charles Couture, Gilbert Couture, and Rod Gregoire, and 3 sisters-in-law, Norma Topor, Gloria Couture, and Rita Couture. Al was the beloved uncle of 34 nieces and nephews and leaves behind many loving and caring friends. He was the husband of the late Bernice A.(Couture) Phenner, who died in 1996. Funeral services will be Sunday, April 4, 2004 at 3 PM at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee. Burial will be Thursday, April 8, at 11 AM in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fuller Rd., Chicopee.
