Alberta Laura Higgins

Alberta Higgins 1913-2010 CHICOPEE - Alberta L. (St. John) Higgins, of Chicopee entered into eternal rest on Monday November 22, 2010.  Born in Ludlow and a Chicopee resident for most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Chenier) St. John.  Alberta was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Springfield.  She was employed by the former H. L. Handy Co. of Springfield and had also worked for Russell's Hardware of Holyoke.  Alberta was a parishioner of the former St. Patrick's Church for many years.  Her family was central to her life and spending time with them was the love of her life.  She was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed playing bingo and always liked to travel. Alberta was predeceased by her husband, Francis J. Higgins who passed in 1975.  She leaves her son, Gary Higgins of Port St. Lucie, FL; her daughter, Gail Karol of Chicopee; a sister, Ann McLeish of Palm Harbor,FL; (4) grandchildren, Jason Karol of Chicopee, Keith Higgins of Somers, CT, Brian Higgins of Tempe, AZ, Gary J. Higgins of Agawam and (5) great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 from the Tylunas Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St., Aldenville at 9:30 a.m.  Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chicopee.  Calling hours will be held at the Tylunas Funeral Home on Friday, November 26, 2010 from 4 to 7 p.m
