Alice M. McCleary                                                                    1920-2006 CHICOPEE- Alice M. (Hawkins) McCleary, 86, a life long Chicopee resident, entered into eternal rest on Saturday July 8, 2006 at home surrounded by her loving family. Alice was born in Barton, VT, on January 18, 1920 the daughter of the late William H. and Clemma M. (Buck) Hawkins. She graduated from Stevens High School in Claremont, NH, and received her Associates Degree from Holyoke Community College. Alice worked for 37 years at A.G. Spalding in Chicopee and retired in 1993 as an Executive Secretary. She was a communicant of St. George Church in Chicopee. Alice was an avid bingo player, and also enjoyed traveling and trips to Foxwoods, but she received the most enjoyment when she was spending time with family and friends. Alice was predeceased by her first husband, Harold L. Reney in 1989; her second husband, Edward T. McCleary in 1964; and a son, Douglas A. Reney in 2004. She is survived by her son, Harold L. Reney, Jr. and his wife Lorraine of Woodbridge, VA; a daughter, Carole M. Reney of Chicopee; a step-son, David N. Reney and his wife Barbara of West Springfield, NH; five grandchildren, Robert T., Matthew E., and Sean L. Reney, Lisa M. Hall, and Cheryl D. Hodge; 10 great-grandchildren; three nieces, Sandra Wallace, Lorraine Goyette, and Rhonda Smith; and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 11th beginning at 10 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. George Church, 7 Belcher St., both in Chicopee, with Rites of Committal to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, 1601 State St., Springfield. Alice's family will receive family and friends at the funeral home on Monday July 10th (this evening) from 4-8 p.m. For those who wish, expressions of sympathy may be made in Alice's memory to Hospice Life Care, 28 Appleton St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
