Alma M. Denette                                                              1915-2009   CHICOPEE- Alma m. (Gaboury) Denette, 94, a long time Chicopee resident, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 30, 2009 in Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Bridgeport, CT on October 16, 1915, a daughter of the late Frank and . Alma attended Chicopee schools and graduated from Chicopee High School. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, bingo, and trips to the casino, but Alma received the most enjoyment when she was with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a communicant of the former St. George Church in Chicopee. Alma was predeceased by her husband, Leonard G. Denette in 1965; and her daughter, Shirley J. Cairns in 1997. She is survived by her son, Leonard R. Denette and his wife Carolyn of Wilbraham; a son-in-law, Thomas C. Cairns of Chicopee; a sister-in-law, Thelma Gaboury of Agawam; six grandchildren, Cynthia, Leonard, Sheryl, Sharon, Kimberly, and Thomas; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 3rd beginning at 9:30 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Rose de Lima Church, Grattan St., with Rites of Committal and burial to follow in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olsen St., all in Chicopee. A visiting hour will precede the services on Thursday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alma's memory to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
