Anita Antoinette (Onisto) Lacaprucia of Chicopee passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Anita was born on July 25, 1923 in New Britain, CT to Luigi and Teresa (Bortolazzo) Onisto and grew up extremely proud of her Italian heritage. Loved by all who knew her, Anita always believed there was nothing she couldn’t do for her family. She tackled every day with nothing but incredible energy and enthusiasm. A proud Air Force wife to her late husband, Joseph Lacaprucia, the two spent 59 years together before his passing in 2003.
Anita mastered many skills over the years, including oil painting, sewing, and professionally singing with the Al Gentile Band out of New Britain. She performed at numerous clubs including The Flamingo Room, The Palmetto Club, and The Burritt Hotel. A parishioner of the former St. Patrick’s Church, and currently St. Anne’s Church, Anita was a very religious woman.
Anita was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph Lacaprucia, her son Joseph Anthony Lacaprucia, her daughter Lorena Vyce, and a grandson Joseph Vyce. She was also predeceased by her sister Marie Suprenant, and her two brothers Peter and Joseph Onisto.
Anita is survived by her children, Prema Thomas of Alburquerque, NM, Louis Lacaprucia and his wife Cynthia of Union, CT, James Lacaprucia and his wife Elizabeth of Georgetown, SC, William Lacaprucia and his wife Belinda of Chicopee, MA, Thomas Lacaprucia and his wife Joyce of Chicopee, MA, and Anita Seidenitzer and her fiancé Dan Bouchard of Chicopee, MA, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Beacon Hospice, her daughter Anita Seidnitzer, her son Bill Lacaprucia and two granddaughters Antoinette and Gabriella Lacaprucia for their ongoing love and care they have given Anita over the last few years.
Services for Anita will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Tylunas Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Anne’s Church at 11:00 A.M. Rites of Committal will be held following mass at St. Patrick’s Cemetery on Fuller Road in Chicopee. Please visit
