Anna E. Evans1924-2012HOLYOKE- Anna E. (Hannigan) Evans, 88, a lifelong Indian Orchard resident, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in the Loomis House Nursing Center. She was born on June 14, 1924, a daughter of the late Edward P. and Julia E. (Armstrong) Hannigan. Anna graduated from the former Sacred Heart High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She was the Public Health Nurse for the Town of Ludlow and retired in 1985 after 16 years of service. She was also employed for several years in the emergency department at the former Ludlow Hospital. After retirement, Anna was the Outreach Coordinator for the Ludlow Senior Center. Anna was a communicant of the former St. Matthews Church, Indian Orchard, and was very active in the Women's Guild. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Pine Point Golden Agers. Anna was predeceased by her husband, John A. Evans in 1985; and a daughter, Dianne Hansen in 1992. She is survived by her three children, Joanne Blankenship of Tewksbury, John A. Evans and his wife Susan of Pasadena, CA, and Carolyn Veale and her husband Daniel of Ware; two sisters, Thelma Scannell of Sagamore Beach, MA, and Rita Vanderveer of Boulder, CO; nine grandchildren, Amy and Alan Blankenship, Lindsay Evans, Lauren and Molly Hansen, and Shanna, Daniel Jr., Kayla and Alyssa Veale; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20th beginning at 10 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 417 Boston Rd., with Rites of Committal to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, 1601 State St., both in Springfield. Visitation will precede the services from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home.
