Arline F. Dowd 1928 - 2010 SPRINGFIELD - Arline F. "Nana" (Sweeney) Dowd, 81, of Belchertown and formerly of Chicopee, died Friday, May 14, 2010 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Chicopee on November 28, 1928 to the late John F. and Ada (Marsha) Sweeney. Nana attended schools in Chicopee and was a graduate of Chicopee High School. She was a longtime parishioner of the former St. Patrick's Church in Chicopee. Nana was predeceased by her husband, John F. Dowd on July 2, 1992 after over thirty years of marriage. She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Noreen E. Desroches and her husband Joseph and Kathryn M. Cloutier and her husband Martin; her two sisters, Joyce Murphy and Patricia Sweeney; her five grandchildren, John and Amy Cloutier, Kellie and Shannon Desroches and Molly Harrington and several nieces and nephews. She will also be sadly missed by her friends at Union Mart, Irfan and Nasir. Beside her parents and her husband, Arline was also predeceased by her daughter, Dorothy Jean Dowd and three sisters, Veronica Kane, Dorothy Sweeney and Mary McVeigh. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the Wesson 4th floor staff especially, Catia, Sara and Amanda, for all of the wonderful care their mother received.  There will be a Committal Service on Thursday, May 20 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chicopee. A Memorial Mass will follow the Committal at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Church in East Springfield. There will be no calling hours.
