Armand J. LaRochelle Sr. 1915-2009 SOUTH HADLEY- Armand J. LaRochelle Sr., 93, a long time Chicopee resident, and formerly of New Bedford, entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 18, 2009 in Wingate of South Hadley. Armand was born in New Bedford on December 2, 1915, a son of the late Napoleon and Victoria (Giroux) LaRochelle. He attended St. Anthony's School and Normandin Junior High School in New Bedford. Armand was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. He retired from Monsanto after 38 years of service, and had previously worked at Savage Arms in Chicopee and My Bread in New Bedford. Armand was a communicant of St. George Church. He enjoyed playing pool and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was predeceased by his wife, Yvonne D. (Bergeron) LaRochelle on December 31, 2002; a granddaughter, Carleen Kane; a son-in-law, James Kusiak; three brothers, Henry, Joseph, and Wilfred LaRochelle; and six sisters, Evelina Gagnon, Cora Leblanc, Alice LaRiviere, Antoinette Ehlert, Beatrice Pearson, and Loretta Kennedy. Armand is survived by his three children, Armand J. LaRochelle Jr., and his wife Joan, Paulette Kane and her husband Edward, and Patricia Kusiak, all of Chicopee; eight grandchildren, Darlene, Jeffrey, Anne, John II, David, Frances, and Christopher; six great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Ayden, Jessica, Tyler, Grant, and Lauren; one brother, Romeo LaRochelle of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 21st beginning at 11 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. George Church, 7 Belcher St., with Rites of Committal and burial to follow in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olsen St., all in Chicopee. Visitation will precede the services on Monday at the funeral home from 9-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Armand's memory to a charity of one's choice.
