Ayres “Tony” Cacapo of Chicopee, age 81, went home peacefully to be with our Lord on March 24, 2024. Born August 2, 1942, in Brazil to his late parents, Alvaro and Sazaltina (Ferreira) Cacapo, Ayres came to the United States in 1962 and moved to Chicopee in 1966 when he married his best friend. He worked 20 years for Tilcon Roncari Construction, and 16 years at waste management at the landfilled drop off in Chicopee. He belonged to the Portuguese American Club in Chicopee and was a proud member of the LLU local #999. Ayres loved spending time with his family, especially his two “buddies,” his grandsons. He loved gardening and being outdoors, he was an avid soccer fan, he loved to make people smile with his silly jokes and he loved his Burger King. He was very proud of his heritage and passed it on to his grandchildren. Ayres was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Judy (Young) Cacapo, as well as his parents, his brother Jose ́ Goncalves, and sister Felicidade Goncalves. Ayres is survived by his daughter Marisa Carpenter, her husband Wayne Carpenter, and their sons Joshua and Joseph of Chicopee. He also leaves several nieces and nephews in Brazil as well in North Carolina and Virgina. A Celebration of Life will be held at Faith Community Chapel 485 East Street, Ludlow, MA on April 20th at 2pm. The family request all who attend to wear bright and cheerful colors. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a GoFundMe
