Barbara Ann Harris

CHICOPEE-Barbara Ann Harris, 92, formerly of Clairmont Avenue in Chicopee passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, September 26, 2021. Barbara was born in Springfield, a daughter of the late Kenneth P. and Gertrude (Thurston) Barry. She was raised and educated in Springfield, attending local schools. She married Robert E. Harris and they settled in Chicopee to raise their family. Barbara worked as a Collator for Monarch Insurance Company in Springfield, retiring in 1991. She had previously worked for Insurance Company of North America and A.G. Spaulding.  Barbara worshipped for many years at Hope Congregational church in Springfield.  She enjoyed sewing and quilting in her retirement years. Her husband, Robert E. Harris and a brother, Kenneth P. Barry predeceased her. She leaves her children; Betty Ackerley of Ludlow, Thomas R. Harris of Chicopee, James Harris of South Carolina and Michael J. Harris of Chicopee as well as seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held in Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield.
