Barbara J. Manna

February 17, 1932 — March 18, 2008

Barbara J. Manna   1932 ~ 2008   Chicopee- Barbara J. (Freeman) Manna was taken into God's arms on Tuesday March 18. Barbara was born in Springfield on February 17, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Charles Freeman and his wife Stella (Rotkowsky) Freeman. She was educated in the Springfield school system, and lived for the past 50 years in Chicopee. Barbara also spent a great deal of time, in recent years with her family in Framingham. When Barbara was in better health, she did some volunteer work in the city of Chicopee. Barbara took great delight in cooking for others, and had the ability to create culinary delights with a combination of any available ingredients. She also had the uncanny ability to generate a festive ambience, through creative use of lighting arrangements. Her interest in her latter years included gardening, yard work, and reading. In her younger years she was passionate about water-related activities, roller skating, dancing, and attending Springfield AHL hockey games at the Eastern States Coliseum. Barbara is survived by two sons, Marc Manna and his wife Susan of Framingham, and Chris Manna of Whitehall, MI. She leaves behind two very appreciative grandsons, Michael Manna and Thomas Manna of Framingham; her niece, Ann Williams of Philadelphia, PA; her nephew, Raymond Loranger and his wife Hilda of Ludlow. Barbara was predeceased by five older sisters, Marion, Dorothy, Charlotte, Elizabeth, and Evelyn. Visiting hours will be from 6-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, march 25th at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee, MA. A private memorial service will take place the following morning. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara can be made to the ICU Department at HolyokeMedicalCenter, 575 Beech St., Holyoke, MA01040.
