Beatrice Mary Whalen

Beatrice M. Whalen 1915-2009   Beatrice M. (Mercure) Whalen, 94, of Chicopee passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009.  Born in Chicopee, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Eva Marie (Hebert) Mercure.  Beatrice lived in Chicopee all her life and attended Chicopee schools.  She worked for Westinghouse Corp, Eastern States Exposition and was a librarian for the City of Chicopee for thirteen years.  She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Chicopee and enjoyed going to all their activities. She loved playing cards, traveling with her husband John, enjoying summers at Lake Wyola in Shutesbury and all her friends.  Bea was an avid Red Sox fan.  She was predeceased by her husband of (75) years, John Whalen, her son Jack, her brother, Clifford and sisters, Dot, Pauline, Vivian and Rita.  She leaves her daughters, Barbara Lyman and husband Fred of West Springfield, Mary Roy and husband John of Chicopee, her son Tom of Chicopee; (8) grandchildren and (10) great grandchildren who will all miss her deeply.  Funeral services will be Thursday, November 12, 2009 from the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway, Chicopee at 9 a.m., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Patrick's Church at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chicopee.  Calling hours will be on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m.
