Bernard W. Calnin, 91, of Charles Street in Chicopee passed away peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Care One in East Longmeadow after a brief illness. Bunny as his family called him was born in Springfield, a son of the late James W. and Alma V. (Paradis) Calnin. He was educated in local schools. Bernie worked for Savage Arms in Westfield as a Gunsmith and later in Maintenance over 40 years before retiring. He was a devoted catholic and member of the Catholic Diocese in Western Massachusetts. Bernie enjoyed classic cars and going to car shows. He like to read, watching classic movies on TCM and enjoyed fixing and building things, he was never one to sit still. Bernie was a Bruins fan and seldom missed a game sitting in his recliner. Bernie had a fondness for cats his entire life. He was predeceased by his former wife, Rose Alice Tetreault He leaves his stepson; Charles E. Zajchowski and stepdaughter; Cheryl A. Zajchowski both of Chicopee and several nieces and nephews. Bernie was predeceased by his siblings; Thomas Boisvert, Raymond and Edward Greenwood, Helina Lefort and Jeannette Albrecht. A private services was held at Tylunas Funeral Home, Chicopee. Bernard will be interred in Hillcrest Park Cemetery with the Catholic Rites of Committal to be offered. All Services are private.
