Bernard Mancini

Bernard F. Mancini 1921 - 2003 Bernard F. (Ben) Mancini 81, of Chicopee died Saturday April 19, 2003 in Baystate Medical Center, Springfield. Bernard entered the United States Army Air Corp in 1940 and retired on September 1, 1970 attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He served with the United States Air Force during World War Two, Korea, and Vietnam. Among the many citations and decorations he received, he was also awarded the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, and Purple Heart. During World War Two he was a prisoner of war for 40 months and survived the Baaton Death March in the Philippines.   Born in Lock Haven, PA on April 25, 1921 the son of the late Antonio and Joanne (Renzo) Mancini he resided in Chicopee for the past 45 years. He was a communicant of St. Patrick?s Church, Chicopee, the American Legion Post 337 of Chicopee, Chicopee Lodge of Moose # 1173 of Chicopee, Tigers Athletic Club of Chicopee. He was also a member of the Lodge of Moose in Selingsgrove, PA since 1955 and the Sons of Italy in Lock Haven, PA. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Josephine (Vilello) Mancini 3 sons: Anthony C. Mancini of Chicopee, MA             Steven F. Mancini of Antioch, TN             Bernard W. Mancini of Chicopee, MA 2 daughters: Lori A. Jubinville of Chicopee, MA                      Joyce M. O'Leary of Belchertown, MA 3 sisters: Elizabeth Greco of Ohio                Rosemary Hill of Flemington, PA                Angie Hazlett of Lock Haven, PA and 10 grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday morning 10:30 A.M. at Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway Chicopee followed by a Funeral Mass 11:30 A.M. in St. Patrick's Church, Chicopee. Burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Visiting hours are Monday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Church 319 Broadway Chicopee, MA 01020.
