GRANBY- Bernard "Bernie" E. Roy, 72, a 43 year resident of Granby and formerly of Holyoke, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 21, 2011 in Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke on October 14, 1938 a son of the late Albert and Marguerite (Perrault) Roy. He attended Precious Blood School and Graduated from Holyoke Trade School. Bernie retired in 2001 from Koll-Morgan Optical Corp in Northampton after 35 years of services. He was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby and a 40 year member of the Chicopee Sportsman Club. An avid sportsman he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He was also an accomplished craftsman. Bernie is survived to cherish his memory by his loving wife of 43 years, Gail J. (Forbes) Roy; two children, Michael E. Roy and his wife Candace of  Granby and Michelle R. LeBlanc and her husband Robert of Southampton; four grandchildren, Derek, Amanda, Steven and Ashley; a great-grandson, Declan; several nieces and nephews; and his best buddy Ben. Besides his parents, Bernie was predeceased by a brother, Gerard Roy. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 26th at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 25 State St., with Rites of Committal to follow in West Street Cemetery, West St., both in Granby. Bernie's family will receive relatives and friends at the gathering on Friday, March 25th from 4-7 p.m. at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St., Chicopee. Memorial Contributions may be made in Bernie's memory to Chicopee Sportsman's Club Land Fund, c/o Fred Martin, 56 Harris St., Granby, MA 01033.
