Bertha G. Giard

Bertha G. Giard 1920 ~ 2008   Bertha G. (Guerin) Giard, 87, of Chicopee, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2008.  Born in West Warren and a resident of Chicopee for most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Jean and Eva (Brodeur) Guerin.  Bertha was a retired assembler for the former American Bosch Co. and was employed there for over (30) years.  She was a communicant of St. George Church of Chicopee and was a member of the parish Ladies of St. Anne Society.  Bertha loved to cook and entertain and enjoyed being the hostess of the party.  An avid gardener, working in her yard was a favorite pastime.  Bertha was predeceased by her husband, Omer Giard in 1987.  She leaves her sister, Blanche Hebert of Aldenville and nephews and nieces; Clifford Bellevance of Voluntown, CT; Anne Havelas of Manchester, CT; Joyce Cote of South Hadley; Diana Chase of West Springfield; Robert Guerin of Haverhill; Sr. Claire Guerin of Kennebunk, ME; and Thomas Kelly of Acworth, NH and many grand nephews and nieces.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 from the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway, Chicopeeat 9 a.m., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. George Church at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. Rose de LimaCemetery, Aldenville.  Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 17, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m.  Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to St. George Church 202 East Main St., Chicopee, MA  01020.
