Carlton “Carl” Gower, 75, resident of Chicopee, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family on August 26, 2025. He was born on November 06, 1949, in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Willard Gower and Rita (Dutilly) Gower whom Carl was very devoted to. Carl attended Chicopee High School and built a life defined by dedication and community. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Chicopee until health issues led to his retirement on disability. Never one to be idle, Carl embraced entrepreneurship and became the proud owner of Falls Pizza with his wife Kim, in Chicopee Falls from 1983 to 1989. He later went on and created Kimberly’s Powerhouse Dressings, which kept him busy for many years. A man of many interests, Carl found joy in music and was often heard singing, whether around a campfire or at home. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, fishing, bowling, listening to his son’s bands, playing cards and board games, especially with his grandchildren. His “grand pups” Nylah and Otis loved taking him for walks while he enjoyed the great outdoors. An avid birdwatcher, he felt a special kinship with the wise owls who shared his quiet woods. Known for his warmth and friendly nature, he greeted many with his signature phrase: “Hey Kiddo,” a saying fondly remembered by all—except for his beloved wife, Kim who he always called “Babe”. Most of all, he adored his family. Carl is lovingly remembered by his wife/soulmate Kim (McDonald) Gower, which they would be celebrating 55 years of marriage this October; daughter Shelley (Gower) Porth and her husband, Bryan of New Hampshire; son Scott and fiancé, Christy of Chicopee; five cherished grandchildren—Brooke, Madison, Brayden, Shane, Luke; brother Gerry Gower and his wife Suzi; sister-in-law Kathy (McDonald) Gagnon and partner Joe; sister-in-law Kellie (McDonald) Pinette and husband Mike; brother-in-law Keith McDonald and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his three siblings, brother Willard “Butch” Gower, brother Kerry Gower and sister Rita (Adamczyk) Griffin. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, September 05, 2025, at Tylunas Funeral Home located at 159 Broadway Street, Chicopee, MA. 01020, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a prayer service 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the service, there will be committal rites at St. Rose Cemetery, 58 Christopher Street, Chicopee, MA, 01020.
