Christine "Chris" Borkosky

CHICOPEE- Christine M. (Burdo) Borkosky, 65, of Daley Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, December 27, 2018 at home surrounded by the love of her family. Chris, as her family and friends called her, was born in Holyoke on February 14, 1953 the daughter of the late Francis Burdo & Claire C. (Pelletier) Thompson. Chris grew up in Chicopee in a loving family, was educated in Chicopee schools, graduating from Chicopee High School, Class of 1971 and was a member of the Business Club at Chicopee H.S. She married her beloved husband, Dennis Borkosky at St. Anthony's Church in Willimansett on November 18, 1972 and they celebrated 46 years of marriage this past November in Chicopee where they have lived ever since. Chris was always a worker, never one to sit still. She worked as a Home Health Aide for the former Upjohn Medical and later TAC Medical Services for over 20 years. She found her calling when she joined the caring family at Szetela Pre-School, where she worked as a Paraprofessional for the past 19 years. Her illness prevented her from returning to work these past months but her heart and mind were always with the students and staff at Szetela School.  Chris loved spending time with her family, whether shopping with her beloved granddaughter, Emma and sister, Suzanne or hosting 46 consecutive Thanksgiving dinners at her loving home. She leaves her loving family; her husband, Dennis Borkosky and cherished granddaughter, Emma Borkosky. Her siblings; Suzanne M. Wilkins and her husband Wayne, David M. Thompson and his wife Lisa and Thomas Thompson all of Chicopee. Her sister in law, Cynthia Waite and her partner, Ken Cote of East Longmeadow, her stepmother Carol Burdo of Chicopee and many nieces and nephews. The family invites you to join them for calling hours on Thursday afternoon, January 3, 2019, at the TYLUNAS FUNERAL HOME, 159 Broadway St., Chicopee from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.  A Funeral Home Service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. William Tourigny, Celebrant. The burial will immediately follow in Fairview Cemetery, Armory Drive, Chicopee. The family asks that donations in Chris' memory be made to Holyoke VNA Hospice Life Care, 575 Beech St., Holyoke, Mass. 01040
