Christopher Joseph Barla

Christopher Joseph Barla, 52, of Columba Street passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2022 due to complications following surgery. Chris was born in Hartford, CT, a son of Ida Helene (Desforges) Barla of Chicopee and the late Augusto Giuseppe Barla of Imperia, Italy. He grew up in Chicopee, and was educated at Holyoke Catholic High School and Holyoke Community College. Chris worked as an aerospace parts test operator for Ron-Mar, Inc. Chris enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving as a Medic with the 2nd Battalion 104th Infantry from 1987 to 1993. Chris was a talented Cook and enjoyed Metal Detecting and Fishing in his spare time. He was an avid Horror Movie Enthusiast. Chris was a communicant of Ste. Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. He is survived by his beloved mother, Ida H. (Desforges) Barla and his sister, Kathryn Cecile Rivet and her husband Thomas, all of Chicopee. He is also survived by his partner, Maria Dean and many cousins, extended members of the Barla and Desforges families and many friends both here and in Italy. AT SAINTE ROSE DE LIMA CHURCH, 600 GRATTAN STREET, ALDENVILLE, MA 01020. HIS BURIAL WILL FOLLOW THE MASS AT SAINTE ROSE DE LIMA CEMETERY, 49 OLSEN STREET, CHICOPEE, MA 01020.
