Claire E. (Viens) Giblo

August 20, 1935 — February 27, 2024

Claire E. (Viens) Giblo, 89, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Claire was the youngest daughter of Euclide and Beatrice (Mongeau) Viens, and a lifelong resident of Chicopee. She worked for many years as a production worker and later delighted in taking care of her family as a homemaker. Theodore “Teddy” Giblo was the love of her life. They married in 1960 and shared blissful and joyous years until his passing in 2001. Claire cherished time spent with family and friends. On Sundays, aside from cheering on the Patriots, she heartily enjoyed hosting her nieces—Donna, Jackie, Sharon, and Gail—to relish in the bond they shared. Also, nothing made Claire happier than being in her home of over 60 years and feeling protected and cared for by her dearest friends, Terry and Dennis.
Claire was a caring person and committed to her faith as a Catholic parishioner at Mary, Mother of Hope Church. She received weekly visits and Holy Communion from Linda, her Eucharistic minister and encourager. Claire was one of 11 children and is predeceased by her older siblings, Roger, Ernest, Richard, Alfred, Rita, Gloria, Shirley, Joan and Connie; her son, Theodore S. "Tadj" Giblo; her daughter, Mitcheline Giblo; and her daughter-in-law, Gail (Miarecki) Giblo. She is survived by her daughter, Helen (Giblo) Wolff and her husband, Kenneth; and her son, Joseph Giblo. Claire is also survived by her sister, Lucille (Viens) Teague; her loving grandchildren, Rachael Wolff as well as her fiancé Thaibinh Nguyen, Preston Wolff, Mitcheline (Giblo) Mekal, and Jody Giblo; her great grandchildren, Jessica Mekal, Chrystal Giblo, and Alex Giblo; and her dear nieces and nephews.
Claire’s funeral mass will be held at 10 A.M., Friday, March 8, 2024, at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd., Springfield. Interment of her ashes will follow in Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery St., Chicopee.
In lieu of flowers, her family has requested donations to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105. The Tylunas Funeral Home has been trusted with the arrangements.
