Claire C. Zacharie

CHICOPEE ~ Claire C. Zacharie, 77, formerly of Trilby Avenue left this earth peacefully, with dignity and grace, on Monday afternoon, April 13, 2020 with her family surrounding her at Day Brook Village in Holyoke. Claire was born in Springfield on December 29, 1942, a daughter of the late Charles and Rita (Theroux) French. She grew up in Chicopee, attending St. Joan of Arc RC School in Aldenville and graduating from Chicopee High School. She lived in Aldenville for many years before moving to Holyoke only recently.  Claire was a Sales Clerk with "16 Plus" and then "The Avenue" Clothing Store, both in West Springfield. She joined Chicopee Comprehensive High School  and worked a as secretary for many years before retiring. She was a devoted catholic and communicant of St. Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. Claire and her husband, Roland enjoyed their summer trips to Salisbury Beach with the family. Claire was sadly predeceased by Roland on November 24, 2011. She leaves her devoted daughters; Madeleine Chase and Scott of Ludlow, Denise Raby and Travis of Chicopee and John Zacharie and Jennifer Souza of Branford, CT. Her cherished grandchildren; Amy, Jessica, Timothy, Jared, Brandon, Jacob and Ellie Mae and her great grandchildren; Sarah, Hannah, Blake and Jaden. Claire also leaves her siblings; Maryann Poirier of South Hadley and Charlie and Alan French, both of Chicopee, many nieces and nephews and the extended members of the Zacharie and French families. The family will have a Celebration of her Life with an interment of her ashes in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Aldenville at a time to be announced pending the social restrictions.
