Concepcion Vestal1934-2014Ludlow- Concepcion "Connie" (Pina) Vestal, 79, of Ludlow, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in San Antonio, TX on December 30, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Ramon and Maria (Portillo) Pina. Connie attended Texas public schools and received her teaching degree at Texas Women's University and two Masters Degrees from AIC. She worked for Chicopee Public Schools for 44 years, in which she retired. Connie was a lectern and a very active member of Christ the King Church in Ludlow. A world traveler, Connie also loved to cook, which she was fantastic at, upholstered furniture, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed antiquing. She was predeceased by her husband, Bobby Joe Vestal, on January 29, 1995. Connie leaves her daughter Mary Louise Gurney and her husband Jeffrey of Southwick; two sons, Mark Vestal and his wife Jennifer of Elkton, Maryland, and Kevin Vestal of Ludlow; two brothers, Jesse Pina and his wife Francine of Jacksonville, FL, and Roland Pina and his wife Kathy of Texas; her sister Rosemarie Strout and her husband Edward of Worcester; seven grandchildren, Deirdre M. and Joseph R. Santos, Allison L. and Giavanna L. Gurney, Tiffany C., Carly I., and Connor R. Vestal; one great-grandson, Benjamin E. Santos, and many nieces, nephews, and very close and loving friends. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 10am directly at Christ the King Church, 41 Warsaw Ave, Ludlow followed by Rites of Committal in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker St, Springfield. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 30,, 2014 from 3-7pm with a eulogy held at 6pm at Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee.
