David A. Donahue Sr. 1930-2007 Chicopee- David "Dave" Ambrose Donahue Sr., 77, a life long Chicopee resident entered into eternal rest on Saturday March 10, 2007 in Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Chicopee Falls on February 11, 1930 a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Brown) Donahue. Dave attended St. Patrick's School in Chicopee and graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield. He was a communicant of St. George Church, was a 50 year friend of Bill W, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Elder Council 69 in Chicopee. Dave was a self employed distributor for McKee Baking Company, and after retirement was employed at Sunshine Village as a driver. He was a good story teller and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Dave enjoyed bird watching, photography, music, and playing cribbage with his friends. He received the most enjoyment when he was spending time with his grandchildren. Dave is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lorraine P. (Turmel) Donahue; five children, David A. Jr. and his wife Cathy of Granby, Mark A. of Gardiner, Montana, Luke A. and his wife Kerstin of Springfield, Elizabeth M.A. Spirito and her husband Mark of Ludlow, and Mary R. Boyd and her husband Terrance of Chicopee; a brother, Gary W. Donahue and his wife Alfreida of Chicopee; and many nieces and nephews. He was "Da" to 13 cherished grandchildren, Dylan, Danielle, Devin, Tristan, Sebastian, Jennifer, Zachary, Rachel, Alexander, David, Jacob, Hannah, and was predeceased by his grandson, Matthew. He was also predeceased by his brother, John Donahue. Funeral service will be held on Friday March 16th beginning at 9:30 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. George Church, 7 Belcher St., both in Chicopee. Burial will be private.
