David D. Riley 1939-2009 David Dennis Riley, 69, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2009. Born in Chicopee and a long time Springfield resident, he was the son of the late Walter and Evelyn (Pierson) Riley. David was a retired machinist for the former Moore Drop Forge of Springfield. He had also worked for several area machine shops. David served his country in the Army and was a Vietnam-Era veteran. He was a history enthusiast of World War II and spent his leisure time building model replicas of tanks and armored vehicles. He would converse at length with anyone about military service, tanks and other military vehicles. David was a member of the Wings and Wheels Hobby Club of West Springfield. He is survived by his wife of (42) years, Loretta A. (Kapinos) Riley; two sons; Dennis W. Riley and his wife Stacy of Chicopee; Brian D. Riley and his fiancée Margaret Bryden of Springfield; three brothers; Richard Riley and Walter Riley both of California; Robert Riley of Arizona; two sisters; Carolyn Chapman of Virginia; Ruth Avando of Chicopee; and four grandchildren; Craig D. Riley, Justine M. Riley, Devin N. Riley and Rachel A. Riley. David was predeceased by his son; Craig S. Riley, his grandson, Ben Riley and his brother, Kenneth Riley. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway, Chicopee at 5 p.m. Burial will be private and at a later date.
