Dimitrios Kastrinakis 1924-2011 EAST SPRINGFIELD- Dimitrios Kastrinakis, 87, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at home. He was born in Skene, Crete, Greece on January 11, 1924 a son of the late Haralambos and Anna Kastrinakis. Dimitrios retired from Easco Hand Tool (Moore Drop Forge). He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Springfield. Dimitrios was an avid gardener and enjoyed building things with his hands. He also enjoyed the outdoors, but received the most enjoyment when he was spending time with his family. During the invasion of Crete during WWII, Dimitrios was shot and wounded by the German Forces. Dimitrios was predeceased by his wife, Helen Kastrinakis on October 13, 2008. He is survived by his son, Harry Kastrinakis and his wife Deborah of Palmer; a daughter, Dimitra Kastrinakis of Springfield; two grandchildren, Dimitri and Joseph Kastrinakis; a sister, Chrysoula Maragoudakis of St. Petersburg, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 21st beginning at 8:45 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St., Chicopee, with a funeral service at 10 a.m. in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8 Plainfield St., with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay St., both in Springfield. Dimitrios' family will receive relatives and friends at the gathering on Monday, June 20th from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
