Donald G. Roy 1937-2009 CHICOPEE- Donald George Roy, of Chicopee, went home to be with the LORD, Sunday, May 24, 2009, at his residence with his family by his side. Born on December 7, 1937, he was the son of Adrienne (Labrie) Roy and the late Wilfred Roy. Mr. Roy was a veteran of the Massachusetts Army National Guard, and a retired firefighter of 31 years from the City of Chicopeewhere he spent the last 10 years of his career as the City's 911 dispatcher. He was the holder of badge #1 and then transferred it to his twin brother Ronald also of the fire department. He was a retired member of the Massachusetts Firefighters Association. Donald graduated St. Joan of Arc in Aldenville, and attended 6 years at the La Salette Seminary. He lived in Chicopeehis whole life and enjoyed fishing, hunting and the Boston Bruins. He was a member and server at St. Patrick's Church in Chicopee. Donald is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy (Dugre) Roy; a son Michael and his wife Carla of Enfield, Connecticut, and daughter Kathleen Therrien and her husband John of Concord, New Hampshire as well as his grandchildren; Brian, Carly, Sarah and Samuel. He is also survived by his twin brother Ronald and his wife Antoinette of Chicopee, brother Bernard and his wife Donna of Russell and several nieces and nephews. Donald was a great father, firefighter, fisherman and friend. Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 28thbeginning at 9 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 319 Broadway, with Rites of Committal and burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fuller Rd., all in Chicopee. Donald's family will receive relatives and friends at the visiting hours on Wednesday May 27th(TODAY) from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Floral arrangements of sympathy are welcome, but for those who prefer, memorial contributions may be made in Donald's memory to Baystate VNA & Hospice, 50 Maple St., P.O.
