Doris T. Tanguay

CHICOPEE - Doris T. (Auclair) Tanguay, 90, of Chicopee passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Center for Extended Care in Amherst surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was born in Holyoke, MA on February 7, 1929 to the late Francois and Marie (Carrier) Auclair. She lived in Holyoke, Granby, Brewster and, after retirement she and her husband enjoyed summers in Brewster and Chicopee and winters in Davie, FL. She worked many years in manufacturing in Chicopee and later, in Food Service in Harwich, MA. Doris loved gardening, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Every Sunday Doris and Marcel would either attend or host a gathering of family filled with love, good food, laughter and wonderful memories. She especially loved music and loved to dance. She was the life of any party, encouraging others to "get up and dance". She also enjoyed riding her bike with her beloved dog, Cheetah, in the basket, walking with friends and spending afternoons at the pool while loving life during the winters in Florida.  She was a long-time communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Granby, and then parishes in Brewster and St. Anne's, Chicopee. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Marcel J. Tanguay, a World War II Veteran, on November, 20, 2004, after 56 years of marriage.  She was also pre-deceased by her brothers, Gerard, Maurice, Arthur, Romeo and Fernand and sisters, Bernadette, Rose, Blanche, and Gabrielle, and niece Marietta and nephew Dennis. She leaves daughter Carol Tessier and son-in law, Hank, of Chicopee, Sue Denette and son-in-law, Marty, of Belchertown, and June Chartier and son-in-law Larry of Brewster to miss her dearly. She also leaves grandchildren Steven, Cathie, Laurie, Shelly, Jennifer, Tami, Ryan, Allison and Cara and great-grandchildren Bradyn, Caleb, Tara, Reid, Liam, Maya, Luke, Mary, Maile, Camryn, Kaia, Shaelyn, Alana, Sawyer and Breeze. She leaves many beloved nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.  Family and friends are invited to join in a Celebration of Doris's life at a Memorial Mass in St. Anne's Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee on Monday, May 20th at 11:30 a.m. followed by a gathering at the Cavalier Restaurant on Chicopee Street. Burial will be private at a later date. The family wishes to sincerely thank Cooley Dickinson VNA and Hospice as well as the nurses and aides at Center for Extended Care for the compassionate care they gave Doris in her time of need. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cooley Dickinson Hospice, 168 Industrial Dr., Northampton, MA 01060, or to the local Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
