Dorothy Starcun

CHICOPEE-Dorothy C. Starcun, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 8, 2021, in Chicopee. Dorothy was born in Wadena, Minnesota, one of eight children of the late Harold and Inga (Johnson) Aldrich.  Dorothy worked for many years in the Bridal dress industry retiring in 1996. Hundreds of gowns that she meticulously made and fitted were worn by brides throughout the Valley. She also worked as a floral designer at W.T. Grants in both Springfield and Holyoke. Dot was a member of the Wives club at Westover in her younger years and also served as President in the 1950's. She had many interests and hobbies including; bingo, crafts, crocheting, gardening and flower arranging. She especially enjoyed her visits to the casino.  Dorothy purchased her home in 1950 with a deposit of 50.00 dollars. She lived on Beauregard Terrace and was known as the Matriarch of the Terrace and was the last original owner on the street.  Dorothy especially enjoyed the Christmas holidays. Her home was a sight to see, every inch decorated inside and out for over 60 years. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, several siblings and a daughter, Cynthia Barrett. She leaves her beloved children; Kathleen Starcun and her life partner, Andrew Jarmuzewski of Chicopee and Jerome Starcun and his wife Sandra of Easthampton. She also leaves her last sibling, her sister Margie Wesela of Buhl, MN and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy also leaves to cherish her memory, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.
