Edward A Lafreniere

Dr. Edward A. LaFreniere 1920-2006 CHICOPEE- Dr. Edward A. LaFreniere, 85, a life long Chicopee resident, who practiced dentistry in Chicopee Falls for more than 40 years, died Wednesday March 8, 2006 after a long illness. He was the son of the late Edward and Aurore (Desmarais) LaFreniere. He was a graduate of St. George School, Chicopee Falls, and Cathedral High School. He also graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, where he was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He was a cum laude graduate of Tufts University Dental School and served as a Lieutenant in the Naval Dental Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a Life Member of the Valley District Dental Society and the American Dental Association. Dr. LaFreniere was a parishioner of St. George Church for many years. He is survived by his wife, Janine A. (Lemery) LaFreniere, and sons Edward of Clinton, Ct.; Peter of Newport, R.I. and Chicopee; and Joseph of Chicopee; daughter-in-law Barbara and grandson Christopher of Clinton; daughter-in-law Wendy and granddaughter Courtney and grandson Ethan of Chicopee; and several nephews and nieces. His sister, Evelyn Pease, predeceased him in April 2005. Dr. LaFreniere was an avid reader, often going to libraries twice a week and picking up multiple books. He was a family man and scholar, and will be missed by all, especially his loving family. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 11th at 10 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. George Church, 7 Belcher St., Chicopee.  Graveside services will follow at St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olsen St., Chicopee. Visiting hours will be Friday March 10th from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Dr. LaFreniere's memory to the St. Joan of Arc/St. George School, 587 Grattan St., Chicopee.
