Eileen A. Scanlon                                                                         1919-2006   Chicopee- Eileen A. (Smith) Scanlon, 87, a life long Chicopee resident entered into eternal rest on Friday December 29, 2006 at home. She was born on March 12, 1919 a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Scanlon. Eileen graduated from Chicopee High School in 1936, and was an organizing member of the Chicopee High School class of 1936 annual reunion. She was a secretary for the former John Tehan Real Estate Company in Springfield and retired after 40 years of service. Eileen was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Chicopee. She and enjoyed bingo and sewing. Eileen was predeceased by her husband, John M. Scanlon; and most recently two brothers, Alfred and Charles Smith. Eileen is survived by her son, Jack M. Scanlon; three grandchildren, Scott M. Scanlon of Simsbury, CT, Kelly A. Chase and her husband Mark A. of Ludlow, and David M. Scanlon and his wife Elizabeth A. of Springfield; a great-grandson, Brandon M. Scanlon; her former daughter-in-law, Elaine A. Scanlon of Chicopee; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 3rd beginning at 11 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12 noon in St. Patrick's Church, 319 Broadway, with Rites of Committal to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fuller Rd., all in Chicopee. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday January 2nd from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Eileen's memory to a charity of one's choice.
