Obituary

Elizabeth M. "Betty" (Foskitt) Santos passed away on July 13th, 2026, surrounded by family. Born in Chicopee on March 8, 1938, she was the eldest child of the late Yvonne A. (Paquette) and Theodore N. Foskitt. Betty was a life-long resident of Chicopee Falls. She was a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and founding member of the Daughters of Isabella. Betty enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble, doing jigsaw puzzles, and working outside around the house.

She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Santos III; daughters, Deborah L. Santos-Dempsey and Desiree L. Santos; her brother, William N. Foskitt; and sister, K. Marion (Foskitt) Steigleder.

Betty served the greater community at Westinghouse, WMECO, and Bank of Boston; she retired in 1999 to care for her late husband of 41 years. She bids a warm farewell to her dear Club, a group formed upon graduating from Chicopee High School in 1956. For nearly 70 years, these 15 women met monthly, dining out or hosting family picnics.

Betty is survived by her loving family: grandchildren, Matthew L. Santos-Vitorino and his wife Jennifer of Miami, FL, and Shauna E. (Santos-Dempsey) New and her husband William of the United Kingdom; and her dear sister-in-law Barbara J. Foskitt of Chicopee. She also leaves cherished friends, neighbours, and extended family.

The family invites those who would like to remember Betty's life to join them at Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway Street in Chicopee, on Thursday, July 16th, 2026, at 10:30 am for a visitation and a Prayer Service beginning at 11:00 am. Procession to burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery on Fuller Road in Chicopee will follow.

The family offers their sincere gratitude to the Holyoke VNA & Hospice Life Care team for their compassionate and dignified care. Heartfelt thanks to Robyn Willett for her dedicated commitment to Auntie Betty.
