Elizabeth Viens 1935-2013 Chicopee- Elizabeth "Betty" C. (Johnstone) Viens, 78, of Chicopee, died Friday, October 25, 2013 surrounded by her family after battling cancer. She was born in Chicopee on July 26, 1935 to the late John and Ann (Brown) Johnstone. Betty began working at New England Telephone at age 16 and retired from Verizon with 51 years of service. She was a hard-working volunteer with Verizon Pioneers and South Congregational Church where she served as a Deacon. She was a devoted Grandmother and an avid "Ebayer." Betty loved travelling and motorcycle rides with her boyfriend of 8 years, Stan Phillips. Betty leaves her son Ross Viens and his partner Ken Allard of Chicopee; two daughters, Lynn Fowler and her husband Chris of Newtown, CT, and Dyan Viens of Chicopee; two sisters, Dorothy Saxton and her husband Jim of Las Vegas, NV, and Joan Topor and her husband Louie of Chicopee; four grandchildren, Camden, Colby, Chelsea, and Annie Elizabeth Fowler; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Viens, in 1995; her brother, Jack Johnstone; and five sisters, Margaret Johnstone, Evelyn Johnson, Norma Mutti, Lillias Lanzilloti, and Judith Pavoni. A funeral home service will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 10am at Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Abbey Memorial Dr., both in Chicopee. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 28th (THIS EVENING) from 4-7pm.
