Emelina Z. Lapa 1927-2004 Chicopee- Emelina Z. (Cini) Lapa, 76, a 56-year resident of Chicopee, died Saturday July 31, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield on November 2, 1927 the daughter of the late Aurellio and Emelina L. (DeGray) Cini. In her early years of marriage, Emelina was a family farmer with her husband Walter, and also had worked in local industries. In her later years, she worked at the Officers Club at Westover Air Force Base and worked at Buxton Co. until she started caring for her cherished grandchildren. Emelina was a devoted communicant of Basilica of St. Stanislaus in Chicopee and was also devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved by all that new her, and was known as "Gram" in her neighborhood and will be sadly missed by all. Emelina loved to cook, and handing down family recipes, crafts, playing cards, trips to the casino and Hampton Beach, but her most enjoyable passion and love was spending the holiday?s with her family. Emelina was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 54-years in 1999 Walter Lapa, two cherished sons, Walter Lapa in 1948 and Edward Lapa in 1951, a son-in-law, Roger M. Lebeau in 2003, a brother, Richard Cini in 1977, a sister, Loiuse Fiore in 1976 and a brother-in-law Alfred Taddia in 2003. She is survived by her loving children which whom she leaves to cherish her memory, Walter Lapa Jr. and his wife Kathy of Chicopee, Patricia Z. Lebeau of Chicopee Edna Boileau and her husband Armand of Chicopee, a brother, Joseph Cini and his wife Martha of Agawam, two sisters, Ida Cini of Springfield and Gloria Taddia of Venice, FL and three sisters-in-law, Josephine Sypek, Emily Gevery and Dorothy Chapulka. Her nine cherished grandchildren, Jessica Lapa, Audrey Lapa, Gregg Lapa, Walter Lapa III, Stephen Lapa, Andrea Boileau, Michael Dwyer, Chris Mancini and Davin Mancini, and five cherished great-grandchildren, Amber, Elliot, Ethan, Brandon and Emma also survive Emelina to cherish her memory, along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will assemble Wednesday morning August 4th at 8:45 a.m. at the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus 566 Front St. with burial to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery 800 Montgomery St all in Chicopee.
