Emile Armand Darcy

Emile Armand Darcy, affectionately known as "Moe", 77 passed on December 9, 2016, at his home in Chicopee. He was born in Springfield on June 23, 1939 to the late Armand and Edna (Peltier) Darcy. Emile was a lifelong resident of Chicopee and attended Taylor Elementary and was a 1958 graduate of Chicopee High School. Emile's passion for education continued after high school where he attended UMass for both his undergraduate degree as well as his Master's degree in physics. Emile worked for various positions in laser and optics research and development. He was a pioneer in bar code technology. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars with his brother Frank, who shared the same love. Emile was a gentleman and a scholar who will be missed for his sense of humor and his unique way of looking at life. Being an avid pilot and his love of the open sky brought him to the air shows at Westover and Oshkosh, WI. Emile is survived by his brother Frank and his wife, Joanne of Chicopee, brothers-in-law, Tom Hewes and Ludolph Nehring, nephew Scott Darcy, nieces Sara Belcher and husband Jacob, Samantha Darcy, Karen Johnson and husband George, Kristen Darcy, and Elizabeth Zarone and husband Arthur. Great nephews and nieces, George, Cole, Jake, Abby, Grace and Jordan; and his Aunt Lillian Darcy. Emile leaves many cousins including Alan Doty and the Darcy/Dodd families. He was predeceased by his brother David Darcy, two sisters, Virginia (Darcy) Nehring and Joanne (Darcy) Hewes. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 9-11 AM at the Tylunas Funeral  Home, 159 Broadway St. in Chicopee. A prayer service will begin at 11 AM at the funeral home followed by comital prayers at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chicopee.
