Emily K. Grigonis

Emily K. Grigonis   1914 ~ 2008   CHICOPEE- Emily "Millie" K. (Kusmierz) Grigonis, 94, a life long resident of Chicopee entered into eternal rest on Wednesday May 14, 2008 in Mount Saint Vincent Nursing Home in Holyoke. She was born in Chicopeeon May 3, 1914 a daughter of the late Casimer and Catherine (Kuna) Kusmierz. Millie attended Chicopee High School and retired in 1976 after many years of employment at Steigers Department Store in downtown Springfield. She was a communicant of The Basilica of St. Stanislaus in Chicopee. Emily was a member of the Rosary Sodality of St. Stanislaus and the Beautiful Years Club. She enjoyed cooking for her family and traveling, but received the most enjoyment when she was spending time with her family, especially helping in raising her grandchildren. Emily was predeceased by her husband in August 2001, Anthony Grigonis; and by 12 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Christine E. Delude and her husband Kenn of Hadley; two grandchildren, Nicole Roy and her husband Steve of Northwood, NH, and Chad Delude and his wife Paige of Encinitas, CA; four great-grandchildren, Brenna, Eva, Cole, and Brock; a chosen sister, Ruth Banas and her husband Frank of Chicopee and their children, David Banas and his wife Margaret and Jim Banas and his wife Karen; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Emily will be held on Tuesday May 20th beginning at 9 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in The Basilica of St. Stanislaus, 566 Front St., with rites of Committal and Burial to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery St., all in Chicopee. Emily's family will receive relatives and friends at the visiting hours on Monday May 19th from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
