Emily J. Shaffer1947-2014SPRINGFIELD- Emily Jane Shaffer, 67, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center. Born November 25, 1947 in Johnstown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Jackson Wellington Shaffer and Janet Marie (Berkebile) Shaffer. Emily was a graduate of Forest Hills High School in Johnstown, PA. In 1986 she graduated from Roger L. Putnam Vocational High School as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed by Mediplex, Spruce Manor, and retired in 2005 from Parkview Specialty Hospital. Emily is survived by her husband of seven years, Patrick L. Murphy. She is also survived by three sons, Adam and Ronald Pebley of Chicopee, MA, and Scott Pebley of New Britain, CT; four step-children, Cindy Simis of Springfield, MA, Keith Murphy of Chicopee, MA, Kimberly Murphy of Three Rivers, MA, and Patrick Murphy of Phoenix, AZ; two step-grandchildren, Deandra Jones and Makenna Simis; three brothers, Jack, William, and Jeffrey Shaffer all of Johnstown, PA; and a sister, Debra Spangler of Hosopple, PA. Besides her parents, Emily was predeceased by a sister, Joanie McGowon in 2007. Funeral services celebrating Emily's life will be held Friday, December 19th at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St., Chicopee, MA. Calling hours will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. with a funeral home service at 11:30 a.m. Her Committal service will follow in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA.
