Ernest A. Serra

Ernest A. Serra 1921-2012 AGAWAM-Ernest "Ernie" A. Serra, 90, a lifelong Agawam resident, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 22, 2012. He was born on November 23, 1921, a son of the late Ernest O. and Mary J. (Speco) Serra. Ernie retired as a purchasing agent from Merriam Graves after 24 years of service and had worked prior as a salesman for E.B. Atmus. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish, Feeding Hills. Ernie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marlene L. (Duval) Serra; a daughter, Charlotte A. Grondin and her husband Marcel of Southwick; a son, Ernest R. Serra and his wife Patricia of Feeding Hills; two granddaughters, Sabrina and Alissa Serra; a sister, Eleanor Artioli of Springfield; a sister-in-law, Pauline Nicholson and her husband Charles of Ware; a brother-in-law, Robert Duval of South Barre; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27th beginning at 9:45 a.m. from the COLONIAL-FORASTIERE FUNERAL HOME, 985 Main St., Agawam, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in SACRED HEART CHURCH, 1103 Springfield St., with Rites of Committal to follow in SPRINGFIELD STREET CEMETERY, Springfield St., both in Feeding Hills. Ernie's family will receive relatives and friends at the COLONIAL-FORASTIERE FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday September 26th from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ernie's memory to Hospice Services of Western Mass, 1325 Springfield St., Suite 12, Feeding Hills, MA 01030.
