Ethel M. Dumont1919-2015Chicopee- Ethel "Sis" M. Dumont, 95, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst. Born in Chicopee on July 29, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Eva (Sweeney) Kindness.  Sis was a lifelong resident of Chicopee and graduated from Chicopee High School in 1936. She worked as a Retail Department Manager for Albert Steigers Co. for 18 years, retiring in 1985. Sis was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Chicopee. Sis was wonderful at sewing; she sewed all of the girl's outfits. Baking was a favorite past time; there was never a dinner without a homemade dessert and there were always baked snacks ready for the kids after school. Sis was predeceased by her loving husband of 72 years, Raymond H. Dumont, in 2013, with whom they had three children:  a daughter, Elaine A. Meara (husband Billy) of Longmeadow; a son Allen, who predeceased her in 1985; and a daughter, Janet M. Dumont, of Chapel HIll, NC.  She leaves two grandchildren, Scot Meara and his wife Jennifer of East Longmeadow, and Tracey Meara Panaia and her husband Bruce of Springfield; two great-grandchildren, Bryan and Riley Meara; and her niece Mrs. Susan Sweeney.  Sis was predeceased by her two brothers Harold and Stewart Kindness. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 3-6pm at Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee. The burial services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct, Chicopee, MA 01020.
