Evelyn T. Atkins

CHICOPEE/TEXAS- Evelyn Theresa Atkins, 84, of Harry Wurzbach Rd. in San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully at her daughter, Andrea's home on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 after a long and wonderful life. Granny Evelyn, as family and friends called her, was born on June 7, 1935 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Elzeor and Lillian (Ross) Morrrissette. She lived for many years in Chicopee before moving to San Antonio in 2016 to reside with her daughter, Andrea Bryant. Evelyn worked various jobs through the years, always wanting to keep busy and providing a good home for her loving family. She was a communicant of St. Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and communicant of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX. Evelyn enjoyed shopping and bowling but especially loved spending time with family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Atkins. She leaves her loving and devoted family;  Michael G Windoloski & Nancy  of Holyoke, Albert J Windoloski of  Massena NY,  Alan P Atkins & Monica of Spring TX, Joseph R Atkins & Paula  of Beacon Falls CT and Andrea L Bryant & David of San Antonio TX with whom she made her home. She also leaves to cherish her legacy, twenty grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, her dear brother, Richard Morrissette & his wife Donna of East Hartford, CT. and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather for calling hours on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020 at Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St., Chicopee.  from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Evelyn's Funeral will be held on Friday morning, February 21, 2020 beginning at Tylunas Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose de Lima Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. (Evelyn's favorite color was purple, the family asks you wear something purple, if possible, for visitation and services.) Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association,  264 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104
