Evelyn A. "Chickee" Charron

Evelyn "Chickee" Anne (Gordon) Charron, 86, of Chicopee passed away peacefully on Monday, September 18, 2023, a day shy of her 87th birthday. Evelyn was born in Springfield, a daughter of the late Ralph & Evelyn (Gilberti) Gordon. She grew up in Springfield and attended local schools. She married Leo D. Charron at St. Francis Church in Belchertown, and they settled in Chicopee to raise their family. They enjoyed 54 years of love, happiness, family and cherished memories. Evelyn worked for many years as a check analyzer for Deluxe Check Systems before retiring. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, many of which she donated to Baystate Children’s Hospital. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband, Leo. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Leo and her sons; Gerald “Jerry” Charron (d. 2013) and Roger A. Charron (d. 2016), sisters Marion Machnacz and Roselyne Roberts. She leaves her devoted daughter-in-law and caregiver, Diane E. Charron of Chicopee with whom she made her home. Her sister, Patricia Fortier of Florida, niece Annette Provost and two nephews: Scott and Robbie Roberts and many great nieces and nephews. The family would like to Thank Baystate Hospice for the care, dignity, and love they showed Evelyn. THE FAMILY & FRIENDS WILL GATHER AT ST. ANNE’S CHURCH, 30 COLLEGE ST., FAIRVIEW ON THURSDAY, SEP. 28, 2023 AT 9:00 A.M. TO CELEBRATE THE LITURGY OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL AT 9:30 A.M. FOR EVELYN. INTERMENT OF HER ASHES WILL FOLLOW AT 11:00 A.M. AT THE MASSACHUSETTS VETERANS MEMORIAL CEMETERY, 1390 MAIN ST., AGAWAM. Donations in her memory may be made to any cat rescue foundation at Evelyn's request.
