Everett J. Dargie

Westfield-Everett J. Dargie, 95, of North Road passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 28, 2022.  Everett was born in East Ryegate, Vermont on June 7, 1927, the son of the late Alfred and Annie (Fillion) Dargie.  He grew up in the mountains of Vermont, attended local schools and graduated from high school in East Ryegate, Vermont.  Furthering his education, Everett graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and received a Master's Degree from AIC in Springfield.  He enlisted in the US Navy, serving aboard the USS Bristol, Sumner Class Destroyer in the Pacific Theatre of Operation from 1945-1949.  He received the World War II Victory Medal, Ambassador of Peace Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal.  He was Honorably Discharged, returning home he met and married Shirley (Young) and they settled in Springfield to raise their family, enjoying many years of memories, happiness and family together.  Everett worked for many years for the Farm Credit Bank before his retirement.  He and Shirley purchased a lot and built a summer home in Otis and many summers and holidays were celebrated and enjoyed with family and friends together.  He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in his RV.  He also enjoyed painting and collecting rare coins.  He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Ann (Young) Dargie, a son, Gregory Dargie and his siblings; Ernest Dargie, Dora Ward and Sr. Lydia Dargie ( Sr. Cecile de Marie).  Everett leaves his children; Bryan and his wife Misa of Westfield and Matthew of Wilbraham, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FOR MEMORIAL VISITATION ON SATURDAY, July 2, 2022 FROM 10:00 AM TO 12 NOON AT TYLUNAS FUNERAL HOME, 159 BROADWAY STREET, CHICOPEE.  Everett will be interred at the convenience of family alongside his beloved wife, Shirley in Otis Center Cemetery, East Road, Otis.  Rites of Committal and US Navy Honors will be rendered for Everett's service to his country.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the D 'Amour Cancer Center in Springfield or a charity of your choice.
