Frank F. Tavarez

Frank F. Tavares 1919 ~ 2008     Frank Felix Tavares, 88, of Chicopeepassed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 11, 2008. Frank was affectionately revered to as "Papa" or " Pop" to his family and friends. All will miss his charm and sharp wit. Frank was born in Fall Riveron April 19, 1919 to the late Joseph and Victoria Taveres. Frank proudly served his country as a Senior Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force for twenty-eight years as a career military man where he was stationed throughout the United States, Asia, and Europe. He served during World War II, Korea, and the Vietnam conflicts. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by five brothers. Frank is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Ritsuko ( Oshima) Tavares of Chicopee, one son, Nicholas Tavares and his wife Cathy of Southampton, MA., one daughter, Frances Tavares Koper and her husband John of Scituate, MA., two cherished grandchildren, Melissa Tavares of Southampton and Ben Koper of Scituate, and he also leaves several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a calling hour on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 from 10:30A.M. - 11:30A.M. at Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee, MA. A funeral home service will follow at 11:30A.M. Full Military Honors will be held at 1P.M. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
