Freida (Pilon) Midura, 91, of Springfield passed away peacefully on Monday evening at her home surrounded by her loving family. Freida was born on July 22, 1931, one of six children to Raoul and Edith (Gonyea) Pilon. She was raised and educated in Springfield and attended local schools. Freida married Walter Midura and they settled in Springfield to raise their family. She loved being a mother, tending to her home so family was always cared for, her home was always open to family and friends alike. She was a communicant of the former St. Mary's Church in Springfield, now Mary Mother of Hope. She was a longtime volunteer and member of the Mary Mother of Hope Women’s Club. She worked as a Secretary for New England Insurance Rating Association for many years. In her spare time, Freida enjoyed decorative painting, knitting, needlepoint and was a very skilled seamstress. Freida loved to bake and for many years had a successful wedding cake business with her daughter Cindy. She was a faithful car enthusiast and loved traveling to Antique Car shows with her husband, Walter. Freida was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Walter Midura and all her siblings; Flora, Philip, Coral, Leon and Lionel Pilon. Freida leaves her loving children, Donna Kimball of Wilbraham, Ma., Cynthia Czausz and husband, Edward of Chicopee, Ma., Martin and wife, Lisa of Enfield, N.H., and Brian of Springfield. Her cherished grandchildren, Alex Kimball, Steven and Monica Czausz-Berney and her husband Ryan, Elana Midura as well as many nieces and nephews and extended members of the Midura and Pilon families. She also leaves her dear sisters-in-law, Nancy Pilon, Marty Pilon and her devoted childhood and lifelong friend, Mary “Bibsie” Jacot of Chicopee.
