George P Carreira

George P. Carreira 1937-2005 Springfield-George P. Carreira, 68, died in Mercy Medical Center Saturday January 29, 2005. He was born in Fairhaven, MA and was the son of the late Manuel and Domingas (Freitas) Carreira. George served in the U. S. Army from1957-1959, obtaining the rank of SP-4 class. He has lived in the Springfield area most of his life and had retired from Bassett Printing as a pressman after 40 years of service. During his working career, he earned the Printers Award from his company. He will be greatly missed by his family, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. George leaves his wife of 39 years, Maureen (Nary) Carreira, a brother Daniel A. Carreira of Miami, FL, a sister, Mary Mendes of West Hartford, CT, Several nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law. A sister Madeline Fratini predeceased him. His family will receive friends in the Tylunas Funeral Home Wednesday, February 2, 2005 from 5-7 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, February 3, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam
