George M. Sergienko1950-2014Indiana- George M. Sergienko, 63, of New Albany, IN, formerly of Chicopee, passed away peacefully at his home. Born in Chicopee on July 9, 1950 he was a son of Lucille (Bousquet) Sergienko and the late George Sergienko Jr. George was a 1968 graduate of Cathedral High School and attended  American International College (AIC) where he received both his Bachelors and Masters degrees. Over the years, George had been employed as a teacher, police officer, and most recently as an industrial vessel remediator in the petrochemical field. In his younger days he was an accomplished athlete in local and regional sports. George always enjoyed reading, fishing, and cooking for his family. Along with his mother, Lucille, he leaves his brother Alan and his wife Pamela; his sister Janine DeGraaf and her husband Robert, and his brother Richard and his wife Patricia; his treasured nieces and nephews, Amy Imbriaco, Joseph, David, Rhiannon, Pamela, Elizabeth, and Ricci Sergienko; and three great nieces and nephews. George also leaves his companion, Rochelle Corcoran. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 4-7pm at Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee, MA with a funeral home service at 6:30pm. Burial will be private and at a later date.
