Helen M. Cote, 94, formerly of Yale Street in Chicopee passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, January 2, 2021 at Heritage Hall Nursing center. Helen was born in Springfield on November 19, 1926, a daughter of the late Arthur and Ida (Morin) Desilet. Helen was raised and schooled in Chicopee. Helen married Richard W. Cote and they shared 52 years of happiness, family and wonderful memories together, settling in Chicopee to raise their family. She was a communicant of Mary Mother of Hope Church in Springfield and previously worshipped at the former St. George's Church in Chicopee Falls. Helen worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years at Holyoke Hospital.
Helen was sadly predeceased by her loving husband; Richard W. Cote in 2001. She leaves her three sons: Thomas A. and his wife Judy of West Springfield, Richard R. of Granby and James J. and his wife Donna of Chicopee. Her two daughters; Janice Mueller and her husband Keven of Fargo, ND and Joyce Gregoire of Vernon, CT., ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and the extended members of the Desilet and Cote families. Helen also leaves her dear siblings; Leo Desilet of Ludlow and sister, Adrienne Calabrese of West Springfield. She was sadly predeceased by her daughter in law, Judy Desgres-Cote and siblings; George and Alex Desilet, Alice Tranquilli and Yvonne Theroux. The family invite you to join them on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Mary Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd., Springfield to celebrate the Liturgy of Christian burial for Helen. Burial will follow in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, 49 Olsen St., Aldenville. There are no calling hours. (All attendees are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and are respectfully asked for no physical contact with family and other mourners.)
The family would like to thank the Arbors at Chicopee and Heritage Hall East for the care, compassion and dignity they showed Helen during her time with them. Donations in Helen's memory may be made to the charity of one's choosing. Tylunas Funeral Home, Chicopee is entrusted with arrangements.
