Helen Nowak

Helen Nowak 1925-2009   Helen Nowak, 84, of Chicopee, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009.  Born in Somers, CT and a resident of Chicopee for most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Blanche (Sobaski) Nowak.  Helen co-owned and operated with her sister, the Lichwan Variety Store in Chicopee Falls.  She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Chicopee.  She leaves a daughter, Ellen Ives and her husband Bill of Chicopee; a brother, Paul Lichwan of West Springfield; two sisters, Harriet Lichwan of Chicopee and Wanda Dziadul of Ellington, CT and three grandchildren, Rebecca Ives, Steven Mars and Patricia Senecal.  Helen was predeceased by a grandson, Thomas Mars. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway, Chicopee at 9 a.m., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Patrick Church at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Chicopee.  Calling hours are on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 from 4 - 7 p.m.  For Guest Book:tylunasfuneralhome.com
