Howard N. McDonald                                                                          1915-2007 Chicopee- Howard N. "Mac" McDonald, 91, passed away at home June 15, 2007 surrounded by his family.  He was born November 11, 1915 in Willamansett, MA.  He was educated in Chicopee schools.  Howard was a veteran of WWII, serving with the 415th Ord Evacuation Company in Rhineland and Central Europe.  He was the recipient of two service stars.  Mac was an accomplished baseball player who was a member of the Mt. Tom All Stars and a loyal fan of the New York Yankees.  Howard is survived by his loving wife Arlene; his five children Kimberly Gower and husband Carl, Kevin McDonald and Chris, Kathleen Gagnon, Keith McDonald, and Kellie Penette and husband Michael, all of Chicopee.  Mac was the beloved stepfather of Marilyn Blanchard and husband Joseph of Sandwich, MA, Judith Corner and husband James of South Hadley, Michael Murphy of Palmer, MA, Sharon Laird and husband Roger of Las Vegas, NV, Gary Geanacopoulos and wife Jimmie of Holyoke, Thomas Geanacopoulos and wife Pat of Chicopee, Deborah Geanacopoulos and Christopher Heady of Chicopee, Mark Geanacopoulos and wife Patsy of South Hadley; twenty-two grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.  Howard was the devoted uncle of James McDonald of Chicopee; Bruce McDonald of Granby and Donald McDonald of Indian Orchard.  A funeral home service for Mac will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, June 18th at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker St., Springfield.  Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 17th at the funeral home.  Donations may be made to Baystate VNA and Hospice, 50 Maple St., P.O. Box 9058, Springfield, MA 01102-9058.
